Clément Davout
Français
Painter, musician and poet, Clément Davout has engaged in a dialogue with the living world through his work for many years. After graduating from the École Supérieure d'Arts et Médias de Caen/Cherbourg in 2017, he continued his professional development through residencies in France and abroad, supported by numerous institutions and collaborating with galleries in France, Belgium and Luxembourg. Music, studied in childhood, now allows him to create sound installations and immersive projects inspired by the concept of "audible geography". Like his textual and pictorial work, it is a way of creating sensations, of stirring the imagination by questioning what constitutes landscape in our time. Each medium is a language the artist activates according to the project, inviting us to pay attention to the world, to its joys, bearing witness to the relationships and dialogues between living beings of which we are a part.
Having grown up within landscape, Clément Davout later learned the history of painting through his studies a balance that allows him to construct works in which several pictorial and temporal spaces overlap, conveying a "multi-sensory perception of landscape". Whether through sight or sound, the viewer is drawn into a meditative state. As subjects tend to disappear, to dissolve into the air, colour floods the surface, drawing the eye and kindling curiosity.
