About

Clara Samson, fondatrice de la Galerie Clara Samson

There are vocations that are not truly chosen. They impose themselves, gently, through encounters and works of art.

The Gallery was born from over ten years of immersion in the world of Parisian and international contemporary art galleries. A journey built alongside the greatest, beginning with six years at Galerie Denise René: a foundational experience. Denise René is a singular and essential figure in art history. A pioneering gallerist, she opened her gallery on rue La Boétie in 1944, during the Occupation, with rare boldness and conviction. She was one of the first in France to champion abstract and kinetic art, supporting artists such as Vasarely, Soto, Agam and Tinguely long before the world recognised their place. Her uncompromising commitment, her long-term vision, her absolute loyalty to the artists she championed: all of this left a profound mark on me.

I then continued my path within prestigious international galleries, learning at every stage and gradually refining a vision of the works that truly move me, always returning to my first passion: abstraction.

The gallery champions a precise aesthetic: abstraction as a language of the living, abstract painting, geometric or organic, always rooted in nature and the senses, from painting and sculpture to lumino-kinetic works. Paul Gallaud, Lidia Vergnon, Bardula and Clément Davout embody this vision: artists for whom form and colour breathe, pulsate, and maintain a deep connection with the world around us.

An online art gallery based in Paris today, Galerie Clara Samson carries a full and resolute ambition: that of a physical space in Paris, a living place of encounters, exchanges and discoveries, where works of art and the people who love them can come together.
